Skatepark of San Marcos update, sponsored by the PutzMeister! Here is our beloved Sewell big three replica.. glad we fought for the height on those steps. Then the bank to manny, endless possibilities here ladies and gentlemen, with courtesy drainage in the middle for the failed disasters to get swept into. Complimentary flat-bar and lead in to the big three, oh and what's this.. a hip! Thanks Grindline, looks good. For any of you late to class, here's the design.

So it has been a while since there was any update on the site; things have been slow, and I have not been putting the four wheels down as often as I should. So guess what my New Year's resolution is? Skate more. My seven months of skateboarding in Austin can be summed up with one picture: Mabel-Davis. No one should be allowed to drink the water; they should at least have warning signs and ideally the fountain should be run over with a mack truck and the source allowed to bleed dry over the slope of battery acid that is Mabel-Davis. Yes, there is a skate park, but one taste of the water there will leave you dizzy and bewildered with no recollection of what you were doing or who you are. To 2007, in San Marcos.. a skatepark?

All hail Froston! There are so many great things about this picture that I don't think can be composed into words. When you see Froston in person and realize he's the guy wearing pink shoes it just makes life complete. Professional skateboarders are shorter when you see them in person, except for Tosh Townend, he is a giant.

Browsing around the CCS site today I began to wax nostalgic about ordering boards and shirts from them when I was thirteen, having to get mom on the phone to verify the order wasn't some kind of prank, and the people working the phones were actual skateboarders. You know, back when CCS actually shipped their products from California and you could picture the mailorder phone bank being one or two phones in the back of the shop in San Luis Obispo. So this one time, before getting my mom on the phone, the guy asks "are you related to Jason Carney?", and of course I had to say no, but today I started thinking, where is Jason Carney now? He seems to have slipped from the skate radar, making his last appearance for Maple in 1996. So I'm not asking "Where in the World is Jason Carney?", but more like a "Searching for Jason Carney", that's all.

I was going to post a wonderful article about spring break and the SXSW music festival that invades Austin, but I got caught staring at my wrist watch. Then I decided I would write something outrageously funny about St. Patrick's Day that was related to skateboarding, but I'm not a relationship kind of person so March 17th remains single or non- existent as far as this update is concerned. So I exclaimed "I will post something cool on my birthday, because I skateboard and it is my birthday!", alas .. I did not even skate on my birthday. So I'm making up for it with a post about absolutely nothing right now: Harold Hunter is dead, supposedly cocaine, so what was up with his weight? Eric Koston rides for Indy, so will we see him rolling with the same shirts that the Phi Delts and Sig Eps are wearing? Tight stretch pants and broken arms, tight stretch pants?

So after many days of fighting and yelling and thrown cameras and lack of computer skills, full credit has been given on all the profile photos of which monkey was actually behind the camera when all the shredding was going on. Yes I know this has been a long time coming, but here are the final scores for you Mister Pierce:

Carney - 8
Lochman - 2
Hoysa - 1
Pierce - 3
Whitehead - 1
Those results are in the best alphabetical order that I could stand. Painter, I thought you had a shot in there somewhere, I guess there's no credit for all the awesome candid BMX shots. And no Rob, each frame of a video does not count as a shot. Now would the team photographer please step forward?

So one day Painter and I are out playing tennis; we both have pretty haggard rackets with loose strings and our balls are flat. Being a local tennis pro, my opinion is that he's doing a pretty good job until I hammer a patented "serve of death" at him. Needless to say, his strings were broken and the game was over. I felt special at that moment.

Out of all the friday evenings out of all the twelve months, the spot for the first game of skate was reserved for some other event. Painter wondered if they had insurance for their reservation, and everything was moved over to the covered stage area in city park. By everything I mean a broom, a sign-up sheet, rule sheets, and a pen. Fourteen people signed up and with a grand prize of ten dollars hanging in the balance, Steve Moreno came out the winner against Corey Kenaley and Chris Tyrone in the final round. Thanks to Rob and Painter for helping, and thanks to everyone else for coming out. Everyone get your fakie big-spin 360 flips wired for November.

I know this question has been burned into the hearts of many. It has been burned into my heart ever since that hot September night in 1989 with Dr. Feelgood molesting my ears. Yes, maybe I just dated myself or maybe I just completely made up that experience, but it is as real to me as the time I punched Mickey Mouse at Disney World. He was just a guy wearing a mouse suit anyway. What would the crue do?

Since SPoA totally bit my idea of throwing a game of SKATE before I could even organize a team of goons to organize a game of SKATE on October 7th, I've decided to throw down a challenge here in San Marcos on October 21st. That's right kids, start practicing your most esoteric flat-land mumbo jumbo so that you can say you get paid to ride a wooden toy! Entry fee is one dollar, half of your dollar is going towards helping build the Skate Park of San Marcos, even if they don't know it yet, the other half is going into the pot for the first place winner. This will be a guerilla event and i'm not expecting more than five of my closest friends to show up, so if it turns into a big event then we'll have to tell the parks and recreation department that we're just having a huge family reunion.

Location: City Park, across from the soccer fields, where the river tube pick-up and drop off is, there is a covered cement slab.
Time: October 21st, 6:30pm, everyone wants to be home by nine, so have your tricks wired.
Rules: Click here for the rules.

Are you tired of all this non-skateboarding, non-updating, nonsense? Are you ready for the hottest skate news about all the hottest skate pros doing all the hottest skate tricks? You've certainly planned your internet trip at the right moment because here at Kinetik Skateboards we are all skateboarding, all of the time, and when you get tired of reading the same old dead posts on the SPOSM forums you can come here for hot illegal action! We have a whole design team of designers working on new designs and when they're finished, the new design will rip your face off! I'm still not sure what's being designed, but it could be anything from cored wheels with the core on the outside, to the new radiation series decks made completely from uranium; that's right, I have no clue!

It looks like RedArmyCo's "Storm the Trenches" contest scheduled for C-Fan tomorrow might need to be renamed to "Storm in the Trenches" or "Drain the Trenches" after looking at this weekend's weather forecast. I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade, but I think mother nature does, which is the reason why we should all go out and buy these skateboards, save the trees! July's factoid straight from jizskateboards.com: "Jeremy Wray was a straight A student in high school and became a pro skater when he graduated. Pretty rad huh? You can do it too."

Paintbrush talked about it, and talked about it, and it finally happened. The uglyfication of Texas State continues. If this guy catches you at Sewell Park, he may question your ability to read, but remember to give the follicly challenged a break. They obviously don't teach literature at the police academy. I'm not sure about his reading level, but I think Chisolm graduates from four-stair high with this heelflip, and that about finishes all of the cheesy things I have to say today.

Kinetik Guidebook to Instant Sponsorship:

1) Three-sixty flips are required, el nino flips highly desired.
2) Leave wallies and wall-riding to the tilt mode team; skateboarding is about huge drops, gaps, and handrails.
3) SS-BS-TS down a minimum 24-stair handrail, kinks are a plus.
4) If you don't know how to ollie just roll off even bigger drops, it looks cool.
5) Don't skate unless the cameras are out, why waste energy unless you've got footy?

Sewell park is like a ghost town these days, Lamar is like a hot spot for the kids to hang out in the street, and M&M is still five dollars on Wednesday but over half the people there aren't wearing a wristband so five bucks is still too much. Why is skating so popular? Steve has it all wrong; I did not start skateboarding because I needed danger, listened to punk music, or because I sucked at other sports. Those are all very sorry reasons to do anything. I ride a skateboard because it is fun, and I hope you do too. Here is the March highlight, courtesy of Painter at the new hot spot.

Does your hot water take five minutes to make an appearance from the tap while letting the cold water reign over the sink like all of those unwanted movie previews? Mine does. These five minutes of waiting might explain why Kinetik Skateboards now has a myspace profile that was created without consultation with the rest of the team. Sorry guys. Cfan has been seeing a lot of action lately, and captured in a digital struggle are Damion's photo skills and my attempt at growing long hair, one being a complete failure. By the way, the ditch has been completely painted over; for all of the amateur kids with their first can of paint, please take your tags to the sidewalk in front of your mom's house, and to all of the good tags that were painted over: sorry guys.

So the FUNraiser for the skatepark in San Marcos was this past Saturday, and the rain just kept coming, reducing the session to an estimated 30'x30' square complete with puddles. Now I can only imagine what kind of shredding Primo or Mullen might have done, but the usual skateboarding on obstacles requires the obligatory "push". The best trick results, and we all know that higher numbers are better, would you rather have one mountain dew or a whole twelve pack? Here is the February highlight.

Whoa, I almost fell asleep there. So the new server is pretty cool and it should allow us to do some online board sales in the near future, because skateboarding is all about being a consumer. Recent treks around campus have found some interesting things like these welding projects for handrail beautification. The guy walking around in his underwear in the gnarly moat around the theatre building was me, collecting the latest harvest of water-resistant skateboards for even the most sketchy ollie-to-ploop.

I think it took all of January to recuperate from the whole year of 2004. I was doing my once of the year browse of the website and decided some things need to be changed, like the fact that I can't be 24 years old eternally; but the internet can skew things, and although kinetik has sold a few skateboards, it is still not a company in any sense of the word. it is more like a project, one of those things that gets started and then ends up wasting space in the garage a month later. It is time to see this project through to its goal: world domination!
